Mission
Every member of our team is working to satisfy the needs of every client by exceeding their expectations, every day.
Vision
To provide the highest quality of service, care and understanding to each and everyone of our clients and each other.
Our History
Mr. Arnet Pentland, an amputee himself, established Pentland’s Prosthetic & Orthotic Services Inc. in 1954. Mr. Pentland was a driving force in establishing the Prosthetic and Orthotic program provided at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and was a former member of the BCIT Prosthetics and Orthotics advisory committee.
Starting in Vancouver, we’ve expanded to several locations across BC to improve our accessibility. With close links to local rehabilitation centres, we work with a team of therapists to provide enhanced and specialized care. While we are focused on the future of new technologies and techniques, we are proud of where we came from and look forward to providing services for our community.
What Makes Pentland’s Your Best Choice?
At Pentlands, all health professionals and staff strive to ensure that our prosthetic and orthotic treatment gives you the confidence to achieve your life goal and full potential.

Methods and Materials
Our team is continually experimenting with the latest materials and techniques. Whether it is a complex custom-made device, carbon fibre AFOs, new laminating materials, or different ways to customize your prosthetic, we are developing techniques to make your prosthetic or orthotic to work and look the way you want.
Educational Improvement
Our clinical staff members regularly attend seminars and conferences, keeping them up to date on the latest prosthetic and orthotic treatments. This has given us the knowledge and experience to fit products such as:
Unity Vacuum System
Geniums
C-Leg
RHEO® microprocessor knees
Be-bionic
i-Limb myoelectric upper extremity terminal devices
Dynamic arm
Community Supports
We have always supported the future of prosthetics and orthotics. Pentland’s played a large role in establishing the prosthetics and orthotics program at BCIT. We continue our involvement by encouraging staff to teach in the program and by hosting students for practicums and residencies at our clinics.
Evidence Based Therapy
Using objective measures to document client progress over time, we can determine appropriate treatment options. We use:
Self-report measures
LASAR Alignment Tool
Video assisted gait analysis
Temporal Spatial measurement devices.
This allows us to compare treatments and find the best suited for your needs.
